Insepctor Web

Inspector Web(c) was an extremely fast link verify and HTML check web service originally developed for Unix CGI and owned by Doug Green Consulting. Customers request immediate or regularly scheduled reports through a web form and email is sent when reports are available. A small web site with under 100 pages is checked in under five minutes and large sites with up to 10,000 links in under an hour. Inspector Web(c) understands the internet protocols HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SMTP, NNTP (News Groups), Telnet, Gopher, and WAIS; verifies all links (web page, file, mail, news, etc.) beyond their syntax going directly to the server; checks HTML syntax and image tag sizes; knows when to verify verses download a link to save time; and maximizes the servers connectivity by extending up to 40 simultaneous requests and handling responses as they become available.
While this project has not been touched in almost 10 years, it still may have some value. The source code is now available for download at svn.douggreenconsulting.com/repos/inspectorweb and is GPL licensed.
